Each year our Women in Camp Summit co-host ACA Illinois signs specific contracts with our chosen hotel in order to get discounted rates and fees for hosting events like WICS. These contracts require us to say how many people will book hotel rooms for a certain number of nights in order to keep our registration fees as low as possible for you, the attendee.
If we fail to book the number of nights/rooms required, we end up paying incredibly high fees, which would ultimately jeopardize our ability to host future WIC events.
That’s one of the reasons we encourage you to book your room at the Crowne Plaza Chicago - Northbrook.
You have to use our link or call and say you are with our group in order for your room to count towards our contracted agreements. Booking through a third party like another travel agent or online discount company will not count.

Getting to the Summit
The greater Chicagoland area is packed with various transportation options. From its historic railway system to its modern roadways; from our elevated train system to our airports… there are so many ways one can get to Chicago!
The Women in Camp Summit is being held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook, which is in a suburb about 20 minutes from downtown Chicago and 9 miles from O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Getting to and from anywhere in the Chicagoland area usually requires multiple forms of transportation unless you plan to drive. But never fear; we have plenty of travel tips for you!
Fly in the Sky
Chicago hosts two large airports: Midway International (MDW) and O’Hare International (ORD). O’Hare International is significantly closer to the WICS venue in Northbrook, and we suggest saving time and money by flying to O'Hare if possible.
The Crowne Plaza Chicago - Northbrook offers a substantially discounted shuttle service to and from O’Hare at $18 each way per person. To book your shuttle, please contact the hotel directly. Ride sharing (Lyft, Uber) or taxi services from either airport are also available and super convenient. These services will generally run you $40-$75* dollars each way, depending on traffic and time of day.
You can also arrange for a private car service for $50-$100* each way.
Ride the Rails
You can travel to Chicago by Amtrak train! The closest Amtrak station to the Crowne Plaza Chicago - Northbrook is Glenview, Illinois. Most train routes will take you to Chicago Union Station; from there you’ll have to transfer to the line that services Glenview, IL. To learn more about Amtrak train travel for the Summit, head to their website here.
Glenview is approximately 5 miles from the hotel. You can choose to ride share or taxi to the hotel from the Amtrak station for $10-$20* each way, depending on the time of day.

The only rate we can guarantee is the Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook shuttle rate to and from O’Hare airport. ACA Illinois is not liable or responsible for transportation of attendees.
Set Your GPS & Drive
You can also drive to the Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook where WICS is taking place. Parking is complimentary (free) for Summit attendees.
Important Notice About Driving into the Chicagoland Area: Chicago traffic can get very busy at certain parts of the day during rush hour, especially Monday through Friday, or weekends when they host large events. If you are driving through Chicago’s interstate and toll system highways, we recommend that you avoid driving between the hours of 7:30am - 9:30am and 3:30pm-6:30pm, specifically on weekdays.
Pro Tip:
Don’t want to pay tolls? Make sure to hit “avoid tolls” on your directions app to avoid the tolls. If you do end up driving on the tollway and do not have an IPass, remember to pay your tolls online within 14 days or you will receive a costly ticket!
Pedal, Run, or Walk Your Way
Chicago hosts a number of beautiful walking and biking paths throughout the city. However, December temperatures in Chicago are typically very cold, or close to freezing, and there is a high chance of snow and/or ice.
We recommend a warmer and safer travel option, but theoretically you could also travel by foot or bike to the Summit. Make sure to tell a friend about your route and planned stops!
